Ann Arbor is filled with modern homes of the mid-century variety living in harmony with typical suburban fare. This house designed by the then reigning local modernist, and later Dean of the College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan, Robert Metcalf. Dean Bob, as he was known, built more than 150 projects including dozens of homes in Ann Arbor.

This house is his earliest solo project and has been restored and renovated keeping the essential structure of space, finish and relationship between inside and out, with an eye toward a modern living style updating the one Metcalf designed for 50 years ago.
